Dixie the campdog...
She likes to go camping even more than I do.
Buddy was more freaked out when Dixie got here than she was. I have a 1-minute 39-second video clip of their first meeting and it's ugly. I'd put Buddy on a chain in the back yard and made him stay out there while Dixie made the rounds inside. She went to every room and poked her head inside the doorway, checking out this strange, new place she'd been so abruptly tossed into. When I finally opened the back door and let her out, Buddy went ballistic. It was only the second time in his life the fur along the back of his neck has raised up. He was livid! It's a telling clip, a portent of things to come. Dixie ignores him at first. It's obvious she's aware he's there but she avoids looking at him while she walks around the back yard for the first time and checks things out. |
