I had to build a small wooden frame to support my tomato plants. It was either that or watch them fall over one by one (this in spite of the wire cages around each plant). The frame itself is pretty simple. I took a 2''x2'' piece of pine wood about seven feet long and fastened a horizontal crossbar to one end of it. I used a Skil saw to cut a sharp point on the other end and then simply drove it into the ground in the center of the buckets. Then I used short lengths of twine to tie each sagging vine to the top crossbar. It took a good hour to get it all done. |
