1980 Shasta Motorhome
fully self contained
I did all that this past Sunday when I was cleaning. I wasn't fully convinced yet I was going to be working out here and had set up the office basically just because I could, because I had the spare hardware laying around and a wireless router and an extra coffeepot and little CD playing radio. There was no reason not to. What I found after getting everything situated was that I actually liked it out here. With all the windows open and curtains pulled back it's very much like sitting outside in a quiet park. Quite calming actually. I've managed to get more done in the last four days than I had in the two weeks prior to it so I think I might be onto something here.
I've come across some of the original documentation and owners manual for the Aqua Magic IV toilet that came factory installed in the motorhome and thought it might be of some interest to somebody, especially the page with the exploded parts diagram, as it has parts numbers and parts descriptions for the entire toilet unit. After 27 years, some of this stuff may be a little hard to find. I haven't tested the toilet in the Shasta yet. The people I bought the motorhome from owned it for over three years and claimed they never used the toilet. I looked at it briefly when I first brought it home and it does look almost new, as though it's seen very little use. It kind of makes me wonder how many motorhome owners never use a particular feature just because they don't know how to operate it. Probably not very many.
The air conditioning in the Shasta works surprisingly well. I say "surprisingly" because the air conditioner is the same Duo-Therm roof mounted Sunchaser unit that was installed at the factory nearly thirty years ago. For it to still be working at all is somewhat of a surprise in itself. In addition to the air conditioning instructions, I also found replacement air conditioner covers, with model and parts numbers for the different air conditioning covers. Whether or not any of this stuff can still be found anywhere is anyone's guess.
